More than 40 community groups received their own Christmas present this week from Broome County Community Charities Inc.: $380,000+ in contributions.

The funds come from the 2009 Dick's Sporting Goods Open, the first Wendy's Walk for Kids and additional money bequeathed through the Endicott Foundation, a division of Broome County Community Charities (BCCC). Since 1971, BCCC has donated more than $9 million to community groups, officials said.

BCCC is the host organization for the Champions Tour, which will return to Endicott's En-Joie Golf Club next year from June 21 to June 27. The first Wendy's Walk for Kids happened during the 2009 golf tournament; 15 local businesses and 125 people participated.
