Kim Yu-na definitely rose to the occasion, especially after her main rival had such a great performance.

She had the bigger combinations, the triple lutz-triple toe loop, than Asada did, so she obviously scored more points. She skated with more personality, drew you in with her performance. And all of her elements were terrific, spins and spirals and footwork. That’s why she’s the world champion.

Her score is very high for the others that follow, but thing with skating nowadays is that you really aren’t trying to “beat” another skater. You’re just trying to do your elements as best you can, and then it’s up to the technical specialist to decide on the level and the judges can mark you up or down for execution. Then there are the component scores, where they can elevate a skater or keep them where they think they need to be. It’s a lot more subjective. Of course, Kim had both scores. Brian Westbrook

Brian Westbrook, Philadelphia Eagles’running back, has been released after an eight-year run with the franchise, ESPN reports, Tuesday. In 2007, Westbrook led the league in yards from battle royal with 2,104, but numerous injuries over the last few seasons.

Coach Andy Reid said “Brian is one of the greatest Eagles of all time and he is an even a better person and leader,”. “In my mind, there has not been a more versatile running back that the NFL has seen.” 

Westbrook has rushed for 5,995 yards and has caught 426 balls for 3,790 yards in his eight seasons with the team. He’s also scored 68 total touchdowns while wearing an Eagles’ uniform.

Jayson Williams, Former NBA star, was just sentenced to five years in prison for the 2002 shooting death of Costas Christofi, his limo driver.

During the hearing, Christofi's sister held up a photo of him, while a rep for the family stood up and said Jayson had never apologized to the family for killing Christofi. Tony Kornheiser has been suspended from Pardon the Interruption due to his comments about Hannah Storm’s wardrobe last week. Kornheiser apologized to Storm the day after the kerfuffle. An ESPN spokesman confirmed the suspension.

Furthermore, ESPN must loosen up. Why can’t it have its top talent – Bill Simmons, Tony Kornheiser, etc – making commentary about the media? Colin Cowherd opened his show today talking about Mike Wilbon’s silly take on Tiger. Is he going to be suspended next? The more restrictions you place on your talent, the easier it is to lose them when it’s time to re-sign them.

Luke Air Force Base

KSAZ Phoenix reports a shooting and car crash on Luke Air Force Base in Litchfield, Arizona. The incident left one person dead and another injured.

Two individuals ran a gate at the base with their car at 11 p.m. Monday night, said Luke Air Force Base spokesman Capt. Gonzales.Reportedly, a security force officer confronted two men inside the car, according to Officer Karen Gerardo, the public information officer at the Glendale Police Department.When the officer got out of his car to try to make contact with the two men, the car drove directly at him. The officer shot at the car, which then crashed, said Gerardo.

Investigators do not suspect terrorism, said Gerardo. They don't believe the men were anything other than car thieves, said Gonzales.

The series reveals what happens when CEO disguises as employees of their own companies. He chose to show up as a new employee at several Long Island locations.

Command PR to Launch Luxury Lollipop

Kim Kardashian is producing a half-hour documentary titled, 'The Spindustry.'

The show will follow Miami-based firm Command PR as it prepares for the launch of a "luxury lollipop." Command PR is run by Jonathan Cheban and Simon Huck.

In the show, Command PR almost loses a client. Jonathan and Simon are faced with a situation beyond their control and must scramble to find a solution that salvages both their client's event and their relationship with their celebrity talent.

Kardashian is producing the show alongside "Real World" creators Bunim/Murray Productions. It will air on E! at 9:30 ET on February 21st.

Bloom Box: 60 Minutes

This is secretive fuel cell company Bloom Energy’s big week. After operating for 8 years and having reportedly raised around$400 million from investors, the company is officially launching the Bloom Box, and on Wednesday.

Kindof like an industrial-sized refrigerator, that sucks up oxygen on one side and fuel (natural gas, biomass, etc) on the other. Lesley Stahl, a 60 Minute’s reporter, takes a look at the “secret sauce” behind the Bloom Box. Bloom bakes sand and cuts it into little squares that are turned into a ceramic, which are then coated with green and black “inks.”

 Using a special process Bloom creates these ceramic discs and stacks them together interspersed with metal plates of “a cheap metal alloy.” The bigger the stack the more power the Bloom Box will create.

It's Paczki Day. Paczki Day is basically a final indulgent celebration before the start of the Catholic Lent period. More specifically, it's a celebration of the plump fried donut filled with cream or gel made of various fruits, like raspberry.

Polish immigrants brought the paczki to the U.S. cities like Chicago, New York, Detroit and Hamtramck.. In recent years, it has absorbed Bangladeshis, Yemenis, African-Americans, and young white professionals. This morning, people arrived outside Hamtramck's Polish bakeries for paczki. The Hamtramck Moose Lodge scheduled a Paczki Day Breakfast.

Jamie McMurray won the Daytona 500 on Sunday, Daytona Beach, Florida.

This is the second win for McMurray for the Daytona 500 race and the fourth for his Sprint Cup Series career. Jamie McMurray is the ninth Different winner for all the 9 Daytona 500s and the 34th driver overall.

NASCAR needed two stoppages of well over two hours total to patch a pesky pothole between turns 1 and 2 of Daytona International Speedway. The setback brought the biggest race of the season to a frustrating halt and had NASCAR executives fretting over the potential fallout.

Here is a small narration on the race a couple minutes before the win. Kevin Harvick got the lead for the second and the final restart, but McMurray came in through past Harvick taking the lead on the second to the final lap. Earnhardt Jr. went through from 10th to second during the two lap shout out.

Teryl Austin, Arizona Cardinals defensive backs coach, has agreed to become the defensive coordinator at Florida, according to a  radio report in Phoenix.


However, Florida officials said Thursday that nothing was official. Austin interviewed for the job in Gainesville on Wednesday. 

Charlie Harbison, Clemson defensive backs coach , was also contacted for the job on Wednesday, but Harbison has reportedly withdrawn his name from consideration. 

The Gators are looking for a replacement for George Edwards, who left earlier this month. Edwards became the Buffalo Bills' defensive coordinator after less than a month on the Florida staff.
