Goliath Tiger Fish

by Anne
Goliath Tiger Fish has a rusty color red body that grows up to 20-24 inches long.

It's sort of look like a rainbow trout but it is bigger. Local myths says it is a mutated form of the trout because of the sulfur from the coal mines. Myths also said that the streams where this tiger fishes live once filled with rainbow and brook trout.

This is the only fish in the stream that can withstand in the water contaminated by sulfur. Scientists are now studying them and learning even more. Locals said these fishes only lived within the 1.4 miles of stream.

The 48 Laws of Power

Monday, March 15, 2010 by Anne
Power is rooted in our DNA according to Robert Greene, author of "The 48 Laws of Power"

"We want to believe we're descended from angels when we're descended from primates, this is part of our nature and there's nothing to be ashamed of." - Green added.

Greene says the struggle for power affects even the most benign human relationships. Think of how babies threaten, badger and scheme to get their way, he says.

Robert Greene, soft-spoken demeanor seems at odds with his books, has long been charmed with power. His interest was restricted to sports, then he earned a degree in classical studies and saw how power shaped history.

"There is no use in trying to opt out of the game. Instead of struggling against the inevitable ... it is far better to excel at power."

A gunman opened fire at a security checkpoint into the Pentagon in a point-blank attack that wounded two police officers before the suspect was shot fatally.

Richard Keevill, chief of Pentagon police said, the two officers suffered wounds and were treated in a hospital. John Patrick Bedell, 36, identified as the shooter, died hours after being admitted to a hospital in critical condition.

"The shooter walked up to the checkpoint at the Pentagon's subway entrance in an apparent attempt to get inside the massively fortified Defense Department headquarters. "He just reached in his pocket, pulled out a gun and started shooting" no more than five feet away, Keevill said. "He walked up very cool. He had no real emotion on his face." The Pentagon officers returned fire with semiautomatic weapons." read more: John Patrick Bedell Dead: Pentagon Shooting Suspect Dies

Susan Dey

Tuesday, March 02, 2010 by Anne
The Partridge Family will be the next big family that will be featured in NBC's The Today Show "Great TV Families reunited". But... where's Susan Dey?

Susan Dey isn't joining the rest of her former castmates as the Partridge Family reunites.

"Susan Dey has had, at least in public, a personal life free of the problems that so often plague child stars.

Dey was a big television star (and the object of adolescent lust) during her run as Laurie Partridge and then went on to even bigger stardom in her role as Judge Grace Van Owen on the 1980's hit drama LA Law. While Dey was a popular figure among the boys (and girls) while on The Partridge Family, her role on LA Law made her a darling of the critics.

After her run on LA Law ended in the early 1990's, however, Dey has maintained a relatively low profile. Dey's most recent television role, in fact, came in 2004 when she appeared on two episodes of Third Watch."

MN Appliance Rebate

by Anne

New rebates like the MN appliance rebate enable consumers to take advantage of the state’s $5 million-plus in tax breaks while getting rid of old, energy-hogging technology. Other states have similar appliance rebate programs in place to give you a cash advance at tax time. Thanks to the Arrowhead Electric Cooperative blog from Lutsen, Minnesota, here are some of the specifics of theMinnesota appliance rebate 2010.

This is all part of a larger national program called the Trade-in & Save Appliance Program, which in turn is an arm of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). For Minnesota, it is estimated that 25,450 homeowners will receive a tax rebate if they get rid of their old refrigerators, dishwashers and other appliances for more energy-efficient ENERGY STAR models. Purchases must be made within the state in which you’re filing (in this case, Minnesota) between March 1 and 31, 2010. Retroactive rebates will not be allowed and the MN appliance rebate shall only apply to appliances used in the taxpayer’s residence – commercial and rental properties won’t count.
